When & where is the actual bus trip?
Sunday, October 20, from Sacramento to Reno. Final logistics are still being coordinated but we will be leaving from a central Sacramento location at 8:00am and returning around 8:00pm.
How much does it cost?
It’s free for volunteers! Though donations are welcome, we plan to cover all costs for our volunteers for meals, transport and #MAGSWAG!
Can additional people sign up?
Yes, spots are still available. Please sign up through the website volunteer portal so we can save a seat!
Can children come?
Yes! Children old enough to participate in door to door canvassing are welcome to join along with their parents or guardians. High school students may participate without parents, as long as we have a signed permission slip in advance.
What happens when we get there?
We will be greeted by volunteers in Reno and will be split into small groups before setting off into different neighborhoods to canvass. We’ll be assigned specific precincts and paired with a Nevadan volunteer who knows their way around. No one will be alone and friends can stay together! Canvassing involves knocking on voters’ doors and talking to them about why we support reproductive choice. First timers are welcome, and everyone will receive training before we head out!
Are meals included?
Yes! We will have a light breakfast before we get on the bus, lunch when we arrive in Reno, and dinner before our return home to Sacramento. There will also be delicious snacks, treats, and drinks throughout the day.
What should I wear and bring?
- Comfortable clothes and shoes- we will be doing a lot of walking and the weather can vary. Dress in layers, you may even need sunscreen or rain gear! Maggys Bus shirts and pins welcome but not required!
- Fully charged phone and portable charger if you have one- we will be using the MiniVAN app to access voter information (great if you can download the App in advance!)
